The Gold Coast’s best beauty therapist, as voted by Bulletin readers, is dedicating the award to her late mother in a sweet case of serendipity.

Ms Jorgensen won the Best of the Gold Coast competition by securing 29 per cent of the votes.

Gold Coast Face and Body Place owner Lisa Jorgensen, 42, said her mother Carmel Jorgensen, who sadly passed away last year, had won the same award 20 years ago.

“My mum retired after Covid-19 and unfortunately passed away last year, so that’s why this award is really special to me,” she said.

“Mum was very strong and determined. She was a bit of a pioneer in the beauty industry on the Gold Coast.

“A great friend to many. I know she’d be proud.”

Ms Jorgensen said, while she was a self-taught beauty therapist, she learnt plenty of tricks of the trade from her mum.

After 22 years in the industry, Ms Jorgensen now specialises in waxing and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology.

Her “one-stop shop” salon also offers tanning, facials, eye lash and brow treatments, cosmetic enhancements and a nail tech.
